Born in Budapest in 1906, Almasy covered a wide range of world events in his career as a leading photojournalist. After a spell with the Swiss press he progressed to work predominantly for the UN. Some of his finest work includes atmospheric images of Paris in the 1950s and 1960s and a visual record of its existentialist and art worlds.
